Mechanical Design Engineer - Essex

Reporting to the Mechanical Design Department Manager, the Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering Department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop innovative mechanical products and systems, from concept to execution
  • Design and analyse mechanical and electromechanical systems, including 3D CAD modelling and simulation
  • Oversee the development process to ensure it meets the requirements and timelines
  • Perform product testing and troubleshoot design failures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other design engineers and project managers
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and drawings for design projects
  • Mentor and train junior design engineers on technical and design aspects

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field or
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanical designer, preferably in a product-based industry
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, material, and standards
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering successful mechanical products and systems
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Experience in a broad range of skills, including design for Manufacturability, tolerance analysis and cost optimisation
  • Strong design skills in 3D CAD modelling simulation and other relevant software
