PCB Component Specialist – 12-month FTC
Salary: Up to £56,000 - depending on experience
Location: Bolton

This is an excellent opportunity to work as a PCB Component Specialist where you will have the opportunity to drive the development of the component failure analysis capability within highly complex electronic sub-systems, from concept through to full production and beyond.
The PCB Component Specialist role:
Working in a supportive environment alongside Technical Experts, you’ll support and develop a varied portfolio of electronic design and manufacturing technologies. This will require you to:

Lead and support the development and evaluation of new processes and equipment at a national and international level.

Work collaboratively with internal and external partners/suppliers, visiting as necessary which may include international travel

Understand materials, characteristics and processes of circuit card assembly/printed circuit board manufacture and how we define them for use in our products to survive in harsh environments

Assess printed circuit board fabrication and circuit card assembly processes via laboratory work and work with PCB suppliers and manufacturing centres

Negotiate and influence decision making, providing expert advice defining best practice and managing the adoption of agreed methodologies including generating documented standards within national and international teams

Participate in failure analysis of circuit card assemblies at component and board level
As part of the Electronic Engineering function, you will be responsible for providing a technical support service for all internal programs in the UK and with non-UK teams developing new technologies across all areas of PCB design, manufacture and assembly. This is a unique opportunity to develop an extensive technical skill set unlike anywhere else in industry.
PCB Component Specialist experience required:

Ideally HNC/HND/Degree qualified in a subject relevant to the role or demonstrable equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of PCB Design, Manufacture and Assembly technologies

Strong communication skills to facilitate regular face to face and electronic communications with all relevant stakeholders

The ability to write clear and concise engineering documentation, examples may be requested

Determined individual that is self-motivated with a methodical and logical approach with the ability to work across multiple projects

Committed to achieve objectives on time and to a high professional standard, working openly and sharing information with peers

Ability/flexibility to travel to other locations including international when required
