We’re working with an award-winning, world-leading, technical & scientific engineering organisation, with sites across Europe, that have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Engineer.
If you have a detailed understanding and experience in hazard analysis and safety evaluation processes, along with the ability to integrate them seamlessly with the system engineering process, this opportunity is for you.
The Safety Engineer role:
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer to exploit their safety and system engineering skills to influence the safety aspects of technically sophisticated and exciting products. This will involve optimising the effort devoted to safety assurance, with the goal of balancing safety against the inherently lethal attributes required of complex missile systems.
By understanding the system and its operating context, you will decide what type of evidence will most cost-effectively show that the identified hazards have been mitigated to the customer’s satisfaction, using a range of techniques and approaches. This role is about balancing time and cost constraints to ensure that a convincing safety case, comprising appropriate evidence, is constructed. The role calls for pragmatism and a solid appreciation that safety results from good engineering, not just compliance with numerical targets.
Alongside core engineering projects there are opportunities to conduct internally funded research packages.
We can provide a variety of project work that will allow you to apply the breadth of your safety and reliability engineering skillsets and experience and develop a deep understanding of the technologies involved.
Safety Engineer skills and experience required:
-
Thorough understanding and experience of how the hazard analysis and safety evaluation processes integrate with the system engineering process
-
Ability to deliver Safety Case Reports and supporting information (Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, FTA, etc).
-
Demonstrable knowledge of, and experience in, the application of UK and International safety and system engineering processes, especially Def Stan 00-056.
-
Good knowledge of complex electronic systems and the associated safety issues (but other engineering subject areas, such as design, software, manufacture, etc, will be considered for candidates with the right strengths in other areas).
-
Track record as an effective teammate with strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary / multi-national team, both within MBDA and with our customers.
-
Ideally degree qualified or equivalent.
